MASTER launched the project “Without barriers: Equal, visible, unstoppable” – to improve the position of women and girls with disabilities

The Network for European Policies – MASTER started the implementation of the one-year project “Without barriers: Equal, visible, unstoppable”, with the support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights through the competition “Protection of persons with disabilities – Consistently against discrimination”.

The goal of the project is to improve the position of women and girls with disabilities in Montenegro through strengthening the application of existing regulations, raising awareness, breaking down stereotypes and removing obstacles that hinder their full social integration. Although the normative framework has been significantly improved, multiple and intersectional discrimination still represents a serious challenge in education, employment, health care and participation in political and public life.

As part of the project, a comprehensive survey will be conducted on the position of women and girls with disabilities in Montenegro, the results of which will serve as the basis for the creation of a publication with recommendations for the improvement of public policies and institutional practices.

The project foresees the organization of a three-day training in Berane for representatives of institutions, local self-governments and civil society organizations, as well as a final forum that will open up space for direct dialogue with decision-makers.

Through a series of podcasts and a comprehensive media campaign, the project will contribute to the greater visibility of women and girls with disabilities, the affirmation of their rights and the promotion of their active participation in social life.

The project “Without barriers: Equal, visible, unstoppable” is part of a wider effort to develop Montenegro as an inclusive and fair society in which women and girls with disabilities are equally present and active in all spheres of life.
