“Local for equal” – a project for stronger local communities and equality in practice

The Network for European Policies – MASTER has started the implementation of the project “Local for Equal”, dedicated to the promotion of gender equality at the local level. The project aims to empower women, encourage their active participation in decision-making and contribute to the creation of gender-responsive policies that truly reflect the needs of all citizens.

Why the local level?

Gender equality is not an abstract idea, but an everyday practice that is most clearly felt in the communities in which we live. Local policies and services can be a driver of equal opportunities, but only if they respect the voice and experience of women. That is why with the project we are creating space for dialogue, cooperation and the use of new tools that will contribute to real changes.

It is time for women in Montenegro to take seats at the tables where decisions are made – not only as participants, but as leaders who shape the future of their communities. Their perspective, experience and knowledge are key to making fairer, more inclusive and sustainable decisions that reflect the needs of the whole society. When women have a voice where policies are created, priorities change, new solutions are opened and the democratic capacity of local self-governments is strengthened. That’s why “Local for equality” is not just a project – it is a call for change, for a society where gender equality is not the exception but the rule. 💜
