In the previous period, the MASTER team successfully implemented Info Days within the project “Inclusive Design: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities.” During the Info Days, the project’s goals and results were promoted, and the Analysis addressing the rights of persons with disabilities and the elimination of architectural barriers was distributed to representatives of local governments and citizens. Participants were also presented with an architect’s report containing concrete recommendations for improving accessibility.
The project team visited several ministries and municipalities across Montenegro, where a survey was conducted to assess the current state of accessibility of public buildings for persons with disabilities. During the project, mapping of the current accessibility situation of state and local institutions in Montenegro was carried out.
A total of 25 ministries and 25 municipalities were mapped, examining how accessible the facilities are with a focus on entrances, ramps, elevators, toilets, tactile markings, parking spaces, and digital accessibility.
The research showed that while some institutions meet accessibility standards, a significant number still have serious barriers that prevent the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in social life.
The Info Days served as an important platform for dialogue between citizens, institutional representatives, and the civil sector, with a particular focus on the implementation of the Strategy for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities from Discrimination and the Promotion of Equality 2022–2027.
Through these activities, a significant step was made toward raising awareness, improving the implementation of regulations, and creating a more inclusive society for all citizens of Montenegro.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
