MASTER Roundtable Held – Accessibility for All

What does a city look like when we observe it from someone else’s perspective – from a wheelchair, with a white cane, or as a parent pushing a stroller?

Our answer to that question was the premiere of the film “Inclusive Design: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities” and a roundtable discussion.

The film presents personal stories and everyday obstacles faced by persons with disabilities, but also highlights possibilities for creating an environment where space, services, and information are accessible to everyone. You can find the film on MASTER’s YouTube channel.

As part of the project, an analysis of the accessibility of public buildings was also conducted – with a focus on ministry and municipal buildings.

The results showed that many facilities are still not accessible, but also that concrete solutions exist.

The full report and recommendations are available at master-mne.me

The panel discussion “Equal Access for All” featured:

Irena Rakočević, Ministry of Human and Minority Rights

Valentina Pantović, architect and author of the accessibility mapping

Milena Krsmanović-Iković, advisor at the Ombudsman institution

Anđela Miličić, disability rights activist

Ana Andrijašević, lawyer from MASTER

Each of them, from their respective fields, emphasized how important it is for accessibility to be an integral part of planning, legislation, and the everyday work of institutions.

The conclusion?

Inclusion is not the task of a single sector, but a shared process.

Accessibility is not a matter of luxury – but of dignity, equality, and rights.

The MASTER project “Inclusive Design: Removing Barriers, Creating Opportunities” is supported by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
