In anticipation of March 8th, International Women’s Day, the MASTER team held the fifth workshop within the Academy “Youth Activism Towards the EU!” titled “Active Women: Gender Equality, Sexism, and Misogyny.”
During two hours of inspiring and engaging discussion, participants were guided by the esteemed Sofija Kirsanov, @sofijaak, Coordinator for Culture and Non-formal Education at MOACG @nvo_moacg.
At the very beginning, Kirsanov introduced young participants to the basic concepts of gender equality and explained the significance of March 8th, as well as the broader historical context of this important date.
Participants also had the opportunity to reflect on how common issues and persistent stereotypes affect the everyday lives of women, both on a personal and societal level.
Following the introductory session, an open discussion was held among participants, which sparked a dynamic and constructive exchange of opinions and experiences.
Through exercises and interaction, we also mapped the key challenges faced by women, including discrimination and stereotypes about the role of women in Montenegrin society.
During the workshop, we helped young people gain a deeper understanding of the complex issues women face in Montenegro and encouraged them to actively promote gender equality and combat all forms of sexism and misogyny.
Finally, the importance of creating an environment in which women are given equal opportunities for advancement and the ability to reach their full potential was emphasized, as without this, a truly just and inclusive society cannot exist.
The MASTER team takes this opportunity to congratulate all women on March 8th, International Women’s Day!
This activity is carried out within the project “Youth Activism Towards the EU!”, supported by the Capital City of Podgorica @glavni_grad_podgorica through the Public Call for the Funding of NGO Projects and Programmes for 2023.
