Successfully Conducted Two-Day Training for Local Government Representatives – “Local for Equality”
The Network for European Policies – MASTER successfully conducted a two-day training “Local for Equality!” intended for representatives of local self-governments.
On the first day, participants were welcomed with opening remarks by Ms. Andrea Popović, Executive Director of MASTER, and Mirela Ramčilović, representative of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights. This was followed by intensive work with trainers Saša Đuretić, Coordinator of the Gender Equality Program at MASTER, and Nada Drobnjak, an expert in this field. MASTER’s research in this area was presented, and through interactive lectures and practical exercises, participants jointly analyzed the challenges faced by local communities and explored sustainable solutions that contribute to advancing gender equality.
The second day focused on gender-responsive budgeting and the concept of gender mainstreaming. Through concrete examples and open discussions, participants deepened their understanding of how gender equality principles can be systematically integrated into local policies. At the end of the training, participants were given practical tasks to apply the knowledge gained within their own communities.

Such trainings represent an important space for learning, exchanging experiences, and connecting stakeholders from different municipalities, with a shared goal—strengthening local policies that take into account the needs of all citizens. Gender equality begins at the local level, where the conditions for an inclusive, fair, and sustainable community are created.
The project “Local for Equality!” is implemented by the Network for European Policies – MASTER, with the support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
