The MASTER team continued with the “I Have a Right!” workshops, beginning the northern Montenegro tour in Pljevlja at the Youth Club @omladinskiservisi_cg.
With young people from the northernmost municipality of the country, we discussed human rights and the importance of respecting them.
Through more than two hours of discussion and lectures, participants worked with esteemed speakers Emir Pilav, a youth activist, and Duška Šljivančanin, Advisor to the Ombudsman, who addressed the topics of patriarchy and misogyny.
Do these concepts influence our everyday lives and social interactions?
During the workshop, we covered many aspects, including the historical context within our country and society, cultural implications, and the impact on individuals and society as a whole.
We discussed whether patriarchy and misogyny can be linked to other forms of discrimination, and we provided recommendations and possible strategies for change and for combating patriarchal and misogynistic beliefs.
Throughout the workshop, young participants were highly engaged, contributing through group discussions, examples, and personal experiences to a deeper understanding of these complex topics, while collectively exploring whether Montenegro can be considered a strictly patriarchal society.
We are continuing with the workshops today, as we will visit the Youth Center in Mojkovac at 2 PM to engage with young people from that municipality.
The workshops are carried out within the project “I Have a Right!”, supported through the programme “AT THE RIGHT TIME – Support to Human Rights Defenders and CSOs in the Field of Human Rights Promotion and Development of Democratic Political Culture,” implemented by NGOs Juventas @nvo.juventas, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe Montenegro @helpmontenegro, the Centre for Monitoring and Research – CeMI @cemi_me, and Queer Montenegro, in partnership with the Bona Fide Open Centre, with the support of the European Union Delegation @evropska_kuca in Montenegro through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) 2022, and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration @ministarstvojavneuprave.
