Youth Activism in the Context of Human Rights Protection

MASTER has continued the Academy “Youth Activism Towards the EU!”, and last night we successfully held a workshop at the Youth Center in Podgorica on the topic “Youth Activism in the Context of Human Rights.”

The workshop was held in a very dynamic and engaging atmosphere. Participants were introduced to the importance of youth engagement in promoting and protecting human rights, as well as addressing issues within local communities, by the esteemed Duška Šljivančanin, Advisor to the Ombudsman for Children’s Rights.

During the workshop, we covered various aspects of youth activism and enabled discussions on different topics, which sparked an engaging exchange of ideas and encouraged young people to map key problems in their communities and propose joint solutions.

In order to better understand the concept of youth activism and its application to real-life situations, the workshop concluded with an interactive activity and group work. Participants were tasked with designing a campaign in their local community and, through practical examples and a case study approach, addressing an issue affecting young people in their municipality.

Youth activism plays a crucial role in raising awareness of important social issues affecting young people and their communities. Their voice and engagement can be decisive in influencing decision-makers to adopt policies that reflect the needs and interests of youth.

MASTER will continue to use its capacities to serve as a voice and platform for young people, aiming to draw public attention to their challenges and encourage them to become active drivers of change in society.

The Academy is one of the activities within the project “Youth Activism Towards the EU!”, supported by the Capital City of Podgorica through the Public Call for the Funding of NGO Projects and Programmes for 2023.
