“Successfully carried out camp ‘Harmony in Diversity’”

In Budva, from February 13 to 15, the three-day camp “Harmony in Diversity” was successfully realized, organized by the European Policy Network MASTER, representing the central educational activity of the project “Harmony in Diversity – Our Montenegro,” supported by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and aimed at empowering young people in the field of human and minority rights, prevention of discrimination, and intercultural communication.

The camp brought together young people from different regions of our country who share the values of an open, inclusive, and democratic society, with the aim of strengthening their knowledge, skills, and capacities for active participation in social processes. The program was carefully designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical tools and working methods, through interactive workshops, group discussions, case studies, advocacy campaign simulations, and informal trust-building sessions.

The camp was led by the esteemed Lidija Brnović, an independent consultant specialized in social cohesion and culture. On the first day, topics of social cohesion from the perspective of minority communities were addressed, with a special focus on understanding distance, stereotypes, barriers, and polarization in society. Discussions were constructive and substantive, and participants showed a willingness to speak openly about challenges and reassess existing attitudes.

On the second day, the camp was dedicated to trust-building and non-violent action, peace activism in practice, as well as the role of art and creative approaches in promoting harmony in diversity. The work took place in a dynamic, inspiring, and interactive atmosphere, with a strong team spirit and exchange of ideas.

The final day was marked by examples of good practice from Montenegro, which served to inspire young people to recognize their own potential for action. A short film was also shown, followed by a substantive and open discussion. In their final reflections, participants emphasized satisfaction with the organization and program, highlighting that the camp fulfilled, and even exceeded, their expectations.

The “Harmony in Diversity” camp was not only an educational event but also a space for building trust, solidarity, and togetherness among young people of different ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds. Through joint work, dialogue, and creative activities, young people were further empowered to become promoters of mutual respect, tolerance, and active citizenship in their communities.

We believe that change begins with knowledge but is realized through action. Young people have shown that they possess both. Together, we continue to build a society in which diversity is a value, not an obstacle.
