Project “European Practice for Accessible Facilities”
The project “European Practice for Accessible Facilities” aims to improve the implementation of regulations in order to enhance the overall accessibility of public-use facilities for persons with disabilities (PWD), with a focus on bus and railway stations, airports, and national parks. The goal is to increase equality between persons with disabilities and others, in line with the Constitution of Montenegro and national legislation, as well as the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other relevant regulations applied within the European Union.
Before you is the Publication “European Practice for Accessible Facilities,” whose content is designed to bring European Union legislation closer to readers. This area has been regulated through numerous Regulations and Directives, alongside the presentation of best practices from EU Member States that are highly ranked in terms of accessibility for persons with disabilities. The aim is to contribute to the improvement of the legal framework in the field of transport by eliminating norms that discriminate against persons with disabilities in access to transport.
In addition, the Publication includes the results of research on the accessibility of transport infrastructure facilities in Montenegro.
The project is implemented within the call “Accessible Facilities – Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities” in 2023, with financial support from the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property. The content of this document is the sole responsibility of the Network for European Policies – MASTER and cannot be considered to reflect the views of the donor.
We believe that this MASTER project will help address identified challenges by drawing on good practices from EU Member States and improving the current situation in the field of accessibility for persons with disabilities, enabling them to fully use transport infrastructure, with freedom of movement and choice of residence.
We invite all interested stakeholders to download and carefully review the Publication in order to contribute to improving accessibility and reducing discrimination against persons with disabilities. The MASTER team looks forward to further steps toward creating a more inclusive and accessible society for all citizens.
