On this day, May 9, we recall the speech delivered by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman in 1950. His words were not merely a diplomatic statement, but a vision—a bold idea that European countries, once divided by wars and conflicts, should come together around a shared mission: building a Europe based on cooperation, solidarity, and a common future.
Today, 75 years later, the EU is not only an economic community. It is a space of peace, freedom, and democratic values. On this day, we also mark Victory over Fascism Day—May 9, 1945, which marked the end of World War II in Europe. This date symbolizes the victory of people over totalitarianism and violence.
Montenegrins have always been characterized by a spirit of freedom and an anti-fascist tradition. Therefore, European values are not something we need to adopt, but something we already cherish and pass on.
That is why today we celebrate Europe Day—a day of ideals. Today, we carry a flame that must be preserved and passed on to new generations. MASTER members are doing exactly that—on the occasion of Europe Day, we are organizing the forum “MASTER Towards the EU.”
May the values of peace, solidarity, freedom, and dignity be our everyday path.
